
The crucible of three world religions, perhaps no land in the world inspires as much passion and emotion as this thin crescent of soil on the Eastern Mediterranean. Its history is one of the oldest on Earth, yet the current State of Israel only gained independence in 1948.
Israeli holidays are based on the Hebrew calendar. The Jewish New Year falls in September or early October. However, the month of Nisan (March-April) is considered the “first” month, so technically, the Jewish New Year marks the beginning of the seventh month, Tishrei.
